Diwali Decoration Ideas for UAE Homes (2026)

September 26, 2026

Diwali falls on Sunday, 8 November 2026. Whether you live in a villa in Dubai or an apartment in Abu Dhabi, a few well-chosen pieces can make your home glow for the festival of lights. Here are seven easy ideas, all of which we deliver across the UAE in 1–2 days.

1. Make a floating urli the centrepiece

An urli filled with water, fresh flowers and floating candles is the simplest way to bring a festive feel to your entrance or living room. Choose a gold urli with matching stands to give it height, or a lotus or peacock design for a traditional touch.

2. Light a diya in every corner

Diyas are at the heart of Diwali. Mix brass-finish diya stands, lotus tealight holders and a hanging diya chandelier to light up balconies, window sills and the pooja corner. Tealights are safer and last longer indoors than oil diyas, which is ideal for apartments.

3. Set up a pooja corner for Lakshmi Puja

Lakshmi Puja is performed on Diwali evening. Keep a small corner ready with a clean cloth, a Lakshmi-Ganesh idol, diyas and pooja essentials such as a thali, kalash and incense.

4. Add a festive backdrop

A printed backdrop behind your pooja area or dining table instantly turns an ordinary wall into a photo spot for family pictures. It is reusable every year, too.

5. Draw a rangoli at the door

Welcome Lakshmi and your guests with a rangoli at the entrance. If you are short on time, place a rangoli-design urli with a few diyas around it for the same effect without the mess.

6. Choose gifts that last

German silver gifts such as dry fruit boxes, glasses and trays in velvet boxes are practical, look rich and suit colleagues, family and hosts alike. They are a great alternative to sweets boxes that are gone in a day.

7. Order early for Diwali week

Couriers in the UAE get busy in the last week before Diwali. For standard delivery (AED 17, 1–2 business days) we recommend ordering by Wednesday, 4 November. Need something at the last minute?
